Sudan’s Information Minister warns of rising in the water level in the Nile River

Khartoum-Sudan’s Information Minister, Ahmed Bilal Osman, has warned of rising in the water level in the Nile River which will threaten a major flooding which may inundate several villages in Sudan, pointing out the State's possibilities could not keep pace with it.

In an interview with the BBC on Wednesday, Osman stressed that possibilities of the State does not allow to keep pace with what is going on after affecting of (8) States by floods so far, pointing out that the main problem facing the authorities now is the lack of tents and adequate shelter for the affected people .

About criticism against Khartoum’s Government’s negligence in the relief effort, Sudan’s Information Minister said that his government is continuing its efforts and utilizing aircraft for relief, indicating that the problem lies in the fact that torrents come from the high place and pour into stream valleys, adding that most of the people, despite warnings, build their homes in areas of natural watercourses which have hampered relief efforts and caused demolition of houses.
