We support demands and rights of non-Muslims in the country and extremism has nothing to do with Islam: Sudan’s opposition stresses

Khartoum-Sudan’s opposition National Consensus Forces (NCF) have stressed its strong support and consensus with therights and demands ofChristians and othersin Sudan, pointing out that the government targets the freedom of beliefstipulated by the interim Constitution, pointing out to the burning and demolition of somechurchesand arrestingChristian leaders, indicating that such acts violate rightsand international conventions.

The opposition parties have confirmed that Islamdoes not target other religions, stressing that the extremism has nothing to dowith Islam, pointing out that Sudanwas foundedonthe values of tolerance.

NCF Chairman of the Information Committee, Kamal Omar, said that there is a clear campaign to target freedom of religion by the government which enshrined in the Interim Constitution, adding that targeting of freedom of belief remain obsession concerns all political forces.

Omer, who also the Political Secretary of the main opposition Popular Congress Party (PCP), indicated that this incitement have developed through exploitation of some of extremists systematically, explaining that the government has arrested some Christian leaders on charges related to Christianization and spying with Sudan’s People Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), adding that ruling National Congress Party (NCP) banned building of churches.
