Addis Ababa-In the framework its communication with the international community, Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM) led by Minni Manawi, has received an invitation from UNAMID's new president, Dr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas to discuss situation in Darfur region and how to resolve it.
SLM’s Assistant to the head of the external relations, Trajo Ahmed Ali, met withIbn Chambas in Addis Ababa in the last week, where Ali convey the vision of his movement to solve the crisis in the region.
SLM’s official stressed the impossibility of solving Darfur crisis, unless reaching a comprehensive solution that addresses the roots of the crisis at the center, pointing out the need to diagnose the specificities of the war-affected areas including South Kordofan and the Blue Nile States.
Ali confirmed his Movement's firm stance in cooperation with the African Union-United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID), pointing out at the same time its weakness in protection of citizens in Darfur, calling on the mission to do its duties effectively in accordance with the necessities of the humanitarian situation and reflect through its reports what is happening on the ground regarding abuses against citizens with honesty and integrity to the international institutions, especially the African Union and the UN Security Council in order to take decisions and decisive steps to address the humanitarian situation seriously .
