Israel has nothing to do with Ethiopian dam: Ethiopian Ambassador to Sudan stresses

Khartoum-Ethiopian Ambassador to Sudan, Abadi Zemo, strongly denied any Israeli participation in the construction of to the controversial multi-billion dollar the Grand EthiopianRenaissance Dam.

Khartoum-based Al-Sahafa daily newspaper quoting on Wednesday Zemo as saying: "Israel was not involved in bridging the dam," adding that some parties repeat such allegations to achieve their own agenda, stressing that those claims are baseless.

In a debate at the Future Studies Center in Khartoum,Ethiopian Ambassadorpraised Sudanese position which announced by Sudan’s Minister of Information in which he said that the country will benefit from the construction of the Ethiopian dam.

 Zemo explained that the Grand EthiopianRenaissance Dam is considered the largest project in Ethiopiathat would generate electricity to Nile Basin countries and other benefits, confirming that topography of the region makes it impossible to use the dam for any other purposes other than the production of electric power

 The Ethiopian diplomat said that his country calls the two countries for the establishment of a Committee to study and examine the possibility of any effects of the dam on the two countries.
