Sudan to discuss with Iraq on possibility of future oil cooperation

Khartoum-Sudan's MinisterofInvestment at the Supreme investmentCouncil, Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail, revealed on Thursday that a Sudanese delegation have travelled to Iraq to discuss the possibility of future oil cooperation between the two countries.

In a press conference he held in the capital Khartoum, Ismail said that the country’s Oil Ministry has sent a team to Baghdad to

“A technical team from the Sudan’s Oil Ministry in Baghdad currently to discuss the technical issues of a deal in terms of volumes and payments," he added.

South Sudan and Sudan have agreed to resume pumping oil after a bitter dispute over fees which saw production shut down more than a year ago.

The South, which seceded from the rest of Sudan in 2011, started oil production again by 24 March, under the deal negotiated in Ethiopia.

Both states rely heavily on oil, which is pumped from the South through Sudan's pipelines for export.
