The Director of the Society studies Centre, Ihsan Shabbo, revealed that the Ministry of Health in the capital Khartoum has started activate the tobacco control Act and the application of penalties to maintain the health of citizens.
The Sudanese Government also tend to open (14) centres for the treatment of smoking addiction, and banning the sale of tobacco to persons under the age of 18 years.
The penalties imposed by the Sudanese authorities range between imprisonment of 3 to 5 months or a fine of a minimum of 300 pounds or both to maintain public health
