The frequent provocative behaviour of Egyptian officials toward Sudan is sometimes closer to be Lumpish while at other times afford miserable remarks that exude ignorance. An example of that is the recent statement made by the Egyptian military expert and military strategist Major General Mamdouh Azab, that the triangle Halayeb and Shalateen are pure Egyptian land. The Egyptian general continued to say that the government of Sudan administered the triangle for a brief period for its geographical proximity or for some other reason! Mr. Azab said, reminding his readers that they must not forget that Sudan itself was under the Egyptian administration and sovereignty!
Although the foregoing tasteless statements of the Egyptian official do not deserve much attention by the Sudanese people, nevertheless they represent the official Egyptian position which suggests that Sudan remains as an entity driven by the will of Egypt for granted.
