South Sudanese in Britain organize a demonstration in London condemning the assassination of the Chief of the Ngok Dinka in Abyei

London-South Sudanese in Britain, in solidarity with supporting of Abyei group, organized a major demonstration in London in front of the British Government Headquarters.

The demonstrators submitted a memorandum to the British Prime Minister, David Cameron, condemning the assassination of the the Paramount Chief of the Ngok Dinka, Deng Kuol Deng, by Misseriya militias backed by the Khartoum regime, demanding the British Government to put pressure on Sudan’s government to conduct the Abyei referendum on time in the next October according to the proposal made by the head of the AfricanUnion High-Level Implementation Panel on Sudan (AUHIP) Thabo Mbeki

The memo stressed the need to create an international commission of inquiry into the assassination of Sultan Deng Kuol Deng and to bring the perpetrators to justice, calling on the British Government to work with its international partners in the United Nations and the Security Council to amend the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) and increase the number of its troops to secure the IDP returnees to Abyei region to participate in the referendum.

 For his part, Dr. Zakaria Majok, from Ngok Dinka, called on transparent international investigation into the assassination of sister of Chief of the Ngok Dinka Deng few days ago in Abyei, accusing Sudanese Government, the armed forces and the militias of the Misseriya of involving in the incident.
