Cairo-Egyptian Minister of Transport, Dr. Hatem Abdel Latif, made an inspection tour on Wednesday to follow the experimental operation of Qustul-Wadi Halfa port on the Egyptian-Sudanese border in Aswan governorate, accompanied by the chairman of the General Authority for Land Ports, Gamal Higazi.
The Transport Minister stated that the project comes under the State-sponsored development projects along the Egyptian border to link Egypt with its neighbouring countries, pointing out that the southern boundary of Egypt has share in these projects through establishment of the land port of Qustul and the administrative building in "Abu Simbel" in order to push the development of trade relations between Egypt and Sudan and end the smuggling operations that occur along the border line between the two countries.
The Egyptian Minister stressed that the port has great importance because it will achieve the business and industrial integration between the two countries through bilateral trade and traffic, which in turn leads to provide employment to people of Aswan and the surrounding areas.
