
Khartoum-Sudan urged the United Nations (UN) and its various organs to take strong positions against the rebel groups that undermine peace in Darfur and Kordofan States.
This came during a meeting on Tuesday between Sudanese Foreign Minister, Ali Karti, and Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Valerie Amos, who currently visiting Khartoum
Karti stressed Sudan's keenness on continued cooperation with the United Nations and its organizations, expressing his hope that Amos’s visit lead to better understand for the course of events on the ground.
Sudanese diplomat pointed out his country's consent to the Trilateral Initiative to deliver the humanitarian assistance to the Blue Nile and South Kordofan States came from the Government’s responsibilities towards its citizens, indicating that Sudan People’s Liberation Movement –North (SPLM-N) has refused to implement this initiative, which requires greater pressure on (SPLM-N) from the international community.
For her part, the UN official stressed the keenness to cooperate with the Sudanese Government regarding the humanitarian matter.
